What will matter? How the values of your days will be measured?

What will matter is not what you bought, but what you build; not what you have, but what you gave; what will matter is not your success but your significance; what will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught; what will matter is every active integrity, compassion, courage or sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged other to emulate your example. What will matter is not your competence but your character; what will matter is not how many people you knew but how many will feel a lasting loss when you are gone; what will mater is not your memories, but the memories that leave in those who love you. A life lived that matters is not of circumstance but of choice.

If you have a golf-ball-sized consciousness, when you read a book, you'll have a golf-ball-sized understanding; when you look out a window, a golf-ball-sized awareness, when you wake up in the morning, a golf-ball-sized wakefulness; and as you go about your day, a golf-ball-sized inner happiness. But if you can expand that consciousness, make it grow, then when you read about that book, you'll have more understanding; when you look out, more awareness; when you wake up, more wakefulness; as you go about your day, more inner happiness.
