collapse of the wavefunction

quantum physics tells us that reality in microcosm exists in a state of superposition, i.e. every possible outcome has the same chance to happen, and when a conscious observer decides to "look" the wave of possibilities collapse and thus one of all possibilities manifests it self. An easy to understand this is with the double slit experiment:
